Pastoral Care

''Come unto me, all that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.''
Pastoral Care at St. Paul’s offers a ministry of presence and caring to those who are ill and facing significant life transitions. It also encourages lay persons in finding and expressing their full ministry in Christ as servants of those who find themselves in need. While the Rector and Pastoral Assistant at St. Paul’s have important sacramental and professional roles in the offering of pastoral care, our primary strength is in the concern offered by the large number of very talented and dedicated lay people.
The Rector, and the Pastoral Assistant when the Rector is unavailable, should be contacted at times of pastoral emergencies. The Rector is also contacted for the sacramental and pastoral offices of the Church, marriage, burial, reconciliation of a penitent, and ministration to the sick.
St. Paul’s offers several vital lay ministries which also extend care and concern to those in need.
LAY EUCHARIST MINISTERS (L.E.M.’S)
LEM’s bring communion following a Sunday service to those who are known to be homebound or unable to attend to Sunday services. Lay Eucharistic Ministers are sensitive to both pastoral care and liturgy striving to maintain reverence for the sacraments and care for those being served.
FEED MY SHEEP
Feed My Sheep is a ministry of food and care offered by parishioners of St. Paul’s for parishioners of St. Paul’s. Volunteers prepare meals which are placed in a freezer in the Parish House which are then available for delivery to those in need of a meal. Feed My Sheep also coordinates other assistance needed by those who are sick, in treatment for illnesses and recovering from surgery and illness.
PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE
Every Sunday at both services we pray by name those who are known to us who are sick, recovering from illness or in any sort of need. You may contact the church office to place your name or the name of someone you care for on the prayers of the people list. If you are giving the name of someone other than your self you should make sure that person wants to be included on the prayer list. Names remain on the prayer list for three weeks unless requested to stay on longer.
